Irmo Fire Station

The Irmo Fire District’s Childs Street Substation consisted of a 5,500 square foot steel structure with a vehicle engine bay to house two of the district’s fire trucks and a living area equipped with kitchen, offices, sleeping quarters, and restrooms. The exterior building veneer consisted of a combination of brick and metal panels while the interior consisted of stained concrete floors in the vehicle bay and a combination of ceramic tile an carpet throughout the living area. This location is the only one west of the train tracks that go down St. Andrew Road, and Lake Murray Blvd.
